Turn off balloon tips and sound notifications in Windows 7
If you often install new programs and add-ons, or have a fairly impressive collection of applications in the system tray, you probably struggle with notifications and advice that appear in balloons all the time. Sometimes balloon tips are displayed along with notification sound. Unfortunately, if you want to focus on your work, all of these things quite seriously interfere with your everyday work. We will show you how to turn it off.
Turn off pop-up notifications
Disabling balloon tips generated by all programs running in the background is very simple. Just open the Registry editor, go to Start, and then in the search box, type "regedit" and press Enter. Then move on to the path:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ Advanced
Now in the right pane, right-click and choose "New"> "DWORD (32-bit)". Please remember to name it "EnableBalloonTips" and give it value 0 (zero). After completing these steps, close Registry Editor, and then restart your computer. If all goes according to plan, from now on we will be free of distracting balloon tips, notifications etc. But if we want to restore the previous settings, just go to Registry Editor, and then delete the entry you just created.
Disable or Change Sounds
Good oldie sound you hear when turning on or off the system is the melody we all know, even those who do not use computers very often. Although occasional users can enjoy these sounds, but if someone starts the computer a dozen or so times a day, may be cheesed of it. Fortunately, Windows allows you to change or completely disable these sounds. To do this, right-click on a speaker symbol in the system tray, and then from the context menu, select "Sounds".
The new window will appear with a list of all active sounds that are played with a specific action. For example when you turn on your computer, log on, shut down, and so on. To change the sound, simply click on the specific action on the list, and then from the menu under the Program Events select the sound from the disk (by clicking the "Browse” button) or from the drop-down menu, select" None ".
Disable all system sounds
If you do not want to change individual elements, which can be quite tedious, we can turn off all system sounds. Simply select "No sounds" in “Sound Scheme”. Keep in mind, that any change of Windows in the "Personalization" section, makes sounds assigned again according to particular composition.
