I need a really good encrypting program that wouldn't allow to browse the partitions without providing it with the code, and that wouldn't even allow to browse them in "recovery" mode.

Try installing True Crypt - this is a really reliable encrypting program. To make sure that no one will be able to access these partitions after a recovery...you can install an encrypter that places the key on a USB stick. Without the USB stick no one will be able to access this partitions. Remember, however, that such a method is quite risky (if you format, lose or destroy the USB stick you won't be able to access the partitions and they will become useless). So it's good for keeping really confidential data safe, but don't try it with your XXX collection. ;)
