MSI Launches GT783 Gaming Notebook with Nvidia GTX 580M Graphics

MSI has just announced that the company’s gaming notebook line has received a new addition in the form of the 17.3-inch GT783 laptop that is built around Intel’s Core i7 Sandy Bridge processors and Nvidia’s monstrous GeForce GTX 580M. Weighting in no less than 3.9Kg (almost 8.6 pounds), the GT783 was developed together with SteelSeries to provide users with an unique keyboard that better fits their mobile gaming needs. As a result, the GT783’s keyboard is fully backlit and comes with an optimized design that includes improved key placement with easier access to the WASD cluster, enlarged CTRL and ALT keys, and 3-zone backlit illumination with various light modes and 7 color options. Looking under the hood of the MSI notebook, users will be greeted by Intel’s Core i7 Sandy Bridge processors with four processing cores and Hyper-Threading support, which can be paired together with as much as 32GB of system memory. On the storage front, the MSI GT783 can be configured to feature as much as two hard drives with a spindle speed of 7200RPM, installed in a RAID 0 configuration, delivering up to 1.5TB of storage space. Intel’s SSD drives are also available as an option together with a Blu-ray combo drive that can be installed to replace the standard DVD Super Multi ODD. As mentioned previously, graphics is handled by an Nvidia-built discrete GPU, the GTX 580M, that is coupled with 2GB of fast GDDR5 video buffer, while the audio sub-system comprises two regular speakers and a Dynaudio subwoofer. The rest of the notebook's features list includes a 17.3-inch display with a 1920x1080 Full HD resolution, a pair of USB 3.0 ports, eSATA and Bluetooth 3.0 connectivity, HDMI 1.4 and VGA video outputs, an HD webcam as well as a 9-cell battery pack. No information regarding pricing or availability is made available by MSI at this time, but we expect the GT783 to cost more than just a pretty penny.
