How to use guest account in Chrome?
If you frequently share your computer with other people, you can create so called guest user account in Windows. Thanks to this feature, your friends or relatives will not get access to your confidential data such as your browsing history or visited URL address at the address bar. The same feature is offered by Chrome.
In order to set up guest account in Chrome, go to its settings and look for Users option. As usual, there is a message Currently that only you are using Google Chrome product. When you click Add a new user a mini-wizard will be opened, where you have to choose a name for a new user (for example Guest) and an icon as well. Then, you select the option for the user Create a shortcut on your desktop. Finally, you click the Create button.
The newly created guest account will have its own web history, cache, cookies or history of downloaded files. Your private information will not be displayed here. What is more, you can set up as many additional accounts as you wish.
Google Chrome thanks to kiosk mode, offers you an opportunity to limit the access of other people to the other computer resources. Browser works in it in full screen mode. However, you cannot go to other running programs, files, folders etc.
To run the kiosk mode, right click your new shortcut on the desktop, choose Properties and type after the space the parameter kiosk in the target box. Confirm by clicking OK. Notice: the output of Chrome is still possible thanks to the combination Alt+F4.
If someone we could trust is using our computer, you can simply use Private mode. New Private window is launched by pressing Ctrl+Shift+N. In such as case Chrome does not remember history or credentials.
This is particularly useful when the main user is always logged into Gmail or Facebook and want to share a browser for some time but don’t want to log out from his/her favourite sites.
