How to Stop Gmail Sending Important Emails to the Spam Folder.
We have all had it happen at some stage, you’re waiting for an important email to arrive, only to find out a few days later that it has been sitting in the Junk/Spam folder with all the other emails offering you Viagra or a new Russian Wife. This guide will show you a few ways you can reduce the chance of important mail ending up in the Spam folder.
How to Send Emails From Gmail to SMS. (text message)
It would probably be safe to say that most people have a Gmail account they use for something, whether it’s your main email account or just an account you use to sign up to junk websites with. Whatever you are using it for, you probably get annoyed when emails you don’t consider junk end up in the junk or spam folder. Fortunately, there is a way to limit important mail ending up in the junk folder, follow along as we show you step by step how.
Note: There are a few ways to fix Gmail sending valuable emails to the spam folder. You may have to experiment with each of the options to find out which one yields better results for you, some of these you might already know and use.
Number 1: Mark Important Emails as Not Spam.
This is quite an important step to take to limit what is ending up in your junk folder. Whenever you see an important email that has ended up the spam folder, for example, a work-related email or a password reset email from Steam. Place a tick in the box next to that email and click the icon above that says Not Spam. This will transfer the mail back into your inbox and will set all future emails from that Domain or ID to be delivered to your inbox. (on rare occasions you may have to do this a couple of times for Gmail to catch on that it isn’t junk)
Number 2: Add Domains or ID’s to Your Gmail Contact List.
If the first option hasn’t fixed the issue of your mail ending up in the spam folder, the next thing you can try is to add the email ID to your contact list or add it to the whitelist. This will let Gmail know that this email account is genuine and not someone trying to sell you the latest Model Mustang for 20 bucks. To add Email domains and ID’s to the safe list, you will need to do the following.
- Open Gmail, select the Gmail logo from the Left-Upper side and click Contacts.
- You will now see a new tab showing you all your added contacts.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see the Add New Contact button which is a big pink/red + sign and click on it.
- Enter the Contact IDs as well as related email accounts or domain names.
- Now, click Save and all future emails from that account will go to your Inbox instead.
Number 3: Create Filters For Specific Email ID’s.
If you are still suffering from mail ending up in the spam folder this is another method that should divert mail back into your Inbox rather than your Spam folder.
- Click the Drop-Down arrow in the search bar at the top of Gmail.
- Enter the email ID of the sender you don't want in spam folder into the From field.
- Choose Create filter with this search in the bottom right corner.
- Now, Click on Never send it to Spam and select Create Filter button.
- This should be a 100% fix for the issue, it just takes a little longer than the above methods.
Number 4: Create Filters Specific Domain Accounts.
This method will allow you to whitelist all emails coming from a specific domain name. So all emails coming from that specific domain will be safe and make it into your Inbox rather than the Spam folder. It works in pretty much the same way as Method 3 just with Domains not ID’s.
- Click on the drop-down arrow in the search bar at the top of Gmail.
- In the From field enter the desired domain name, for example Downloadsource.net
- Next, select Create filter with this search the bottom right corner or the dropdown box.
- Select Never send it to Spam, then click Create Filter.
- This will stop any emails coming from that domain ending up in the spam folder.
As good as these methods are at redirecting emails, you should still keep an eye on your Junk/Spam folder every so often. If you are in the market for a few viagra pills or a Russian wife feel free to whitelist those emails too, it’s a free world after all.
