How to Remove Sponsored Searches in Firefox

Firefox Suggest provides personalized website suggestions as you type in the address bar. This feature, introduced gradually starting with Firefox for Android version 120 and Firefox for iOS version 125, includes both non-sponsored and sponsored suggestions. Sponsored suggestions are provided through Mozilla’s partners, such as adMarketplace. If you prefer not to see sponsored searches, you can disable them in your Firefox settings. This guide will show you how to do so on both Android and iOS devices.

How to Remove Sponsored Searches in Firefox

Thankfully, (depending on where you live) Sponsored Searches in Firefox are quite limited.

Disabling Sponsored Suggestions in Firefox

In order to remove Sponsored Suggestions (Sponsored Searches) in Firefox you'll need to go through the following steps. The process is pretty much the same on Android and IOS but we've added the steps for both to make life easy for you.

On Android

If you change your mind you can flip things on again whenever you like. But I doubt you'll ever want to.

On iOS

As with the Android version, you might not ever bother re-enabling the feature but if you do decide to just flip the toggle in the other direction.

Additional Information

Mozilla partners with select organizations to provide these suggestions while maintaining high privacy standards. Sponsored suggestions primarily come from adMarketplace, while non-sponsored suggestions may come from sources like Wikipedia.

Mozilla collects limited data on user interactions with Firefox Suggest, such as how often suggestions are displayed and clicked. This information is shared in an aggregated manner with partners to verify and improve the feature.
