How to Install FiveM for GTA V

Please note that at the time of writing, GTA V Enhanced FiveM is not yet available. But you can stay updated by following the FiveM team's official blog and X page for the latest news. With this mod, you'll be able to play on customized multiplayer servers with modded content. Unlike the official GTA Online mode, FiveM enables roleplay servers, custom maps, new game modes, and various community-driven modifications.

How to Install FiveM for GTA V

Before installing FiveM, you need to locate where GTA V is installed on your computer. The steps vary depending on where you purchased the game are listed below.

Steam Version

Open Steam.
Right-click GTA V Legacy in your library.
Hover over Manage and click Browse Local Files.
This will open the game's installation folder where GTA5.exe is located.
Ensure you're in the GTA V Legacy folder, not the Enhanced version.

Epic Games Store Version

Open the Epic Games Launcher.
Go to Library and find GTA V.
Click the three dots next to the game and select Manage.
Next to Installation, click Open.
This will take you to the correct folder where GTA5.exe is located.

Rockstar Games Launcher Version

Open the Rockstar Games Launcher.
Click Settings in the top right.
Scroll down to GTA V and select View Installation Folder.
Click Open, and you'll be taken to the folder containing GTA5.exe.

Now that you know where your files are do the following.

Visit the official FiveM website
Click Download Client.
Read the terms and click I Agree.
Wait for the download to complete.
Open the downloaded FiveM file.
The installer will start updating FiveM.
A window will appear asking for the location of GTA5.exe if it is not detected automatically.
Navigate to the GTA V Legacy folder found in Step 1.
Copy the folder address by right-clicking in the title bar and selecting Copy Address.
In the FiveM window, click in an empty space, paste the address, and hit Enter.
Select GTA5.exe and click Open.
FiveM will verify the game files.
A popup will appear asking to update local game data – click Yes.
A 600MB update will start downloading and patching.

Launch FiveM

Once patching is complete, FiveM will start.
Log in using your Rockstar Games credentials if prompted.
Choose to sign in with your Cfx.re account (optional but recommended for server reviews and upvotes).
To disable the loud main menu audio, go to Settings > Interface > Uncheck Main Menu Audio.
Join your favourite server and start playing!

Troubleshooting a Few Things

The first time you join a server, FiveM may download several mods, which can take time.
Ensure you are launching GTA V Legacy, not Enhanced, as FiveM does not yet support the Enhanced version.
