How to Fix Mouse Issues in Oblivion Remastered

The Oblivion Remastered release really caught a lot of people off guard with its shock out-of-nowhere launch, but it’s proven to be super popular and, surprisingly, pretty well-optimised and stable for a day one release. That said, there are still a few minor issues you might run into. The first and most common one is some really random and erratic mouse movement. It can make the game feel weird or even unplayable depending on your setup. So, follow along as we show you exactly how to fix mouse issues in Oblivion Remastered and get things running smoothly.

Why DPI Settings Affect Oblivion

When The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion launched in 2006, the typical mouse operated between 400 and 800 DPI. The game’s input system was built around those expectations. Fast forward to today, and gaming mice commonly default to DPI levels of 1600, 3200, or even higher. Oblivion’s engine was never meant to handle this kind of precision, and although the game has been remastered from the ground up, a few annoying little bugs and glitches have snuck in. And whilst I doubt this is a carryover from the original game, lowering your mouse’s DPI seems to get rid of the problem.
