Most of which can be up to 1GB in size which is ridiculous!
So basically, if you have had a lot of game crashes, your storage space is essentially vanishing into thin air. Traditionally, game crash reports are small text files that are only a few kbs usually under a few mb at max. But Mortal Kombat 1 crash reports can be up to 1GB in size. The game itself requires 100GB of storage but crash reports can easily start consuming even more than that if you are having issues. So what can you do about Mortal Kombat Crash Reports wasting space? A lot!
How to delete Mortal Kombat 1 Crash Reports that are wasting Gigabytes of storage space.
Each of the folders below contains a Windows Crash Dump file, and these files can up to around 1GB in size. So if you do have Mortal Kombat installed on your computer go and check these locations and remove all of the files inside of them. You will free up a ton of data.
The specific paths are:
C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\MK12\Saved\Steam\Crashes
C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
While NetherRealm and WB Games are actively looking into this issue and will patch it in time you can manually solve the problem yourself right now. Simply do the following.
- Open File Explorer on your PC.
- Navigate to the C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\MK12\Saved\Steam\Crashes directory.
- Navigate to the C:\Users[UserName]\AppData\Local\CrashDumps directory.
- Within these directories, locate and select the crash report files that you no longer need or wish to keep.
- Right-click on the selected files and choose "Delete."
- If you'd like to ensure the space is completely freed up, empty your Recycle Bin as well.
Generally, problems like this will get patched pretty quickly. However, it did take Microsoft 18 months to fix the problem with the Xbox Game Pass that simply removed games from the Xbox app without uninstalling them… That issue wasted hundreds of GBs on people's computers and was only solvable by reformatting the drive in a lot of cases. Thankfully this issue isn’t as bad as it allows for relatively quick manual deletion.
