How to fix Game Detection not working in Discord.
Game Detection in Discord is quite a handy tool that allows you to quickly and easily display your gaming status to your friends and anyone you share a server with. Unfortunately, it may occasionally stop working properly, so follow along as this article shows you how to fix Game Detection not working in Discord.

If you use Discord for all your gaming and online communication needs, you’re probably taking advantage of the Game Detection feature. Game Detection allows you to broadcast the name of the game that you’re are playing which lets friends quickly and easily join your games or avoid annoying you if they see you playing certain games. Game Detection is great however it is prone to failing sometimes so you’ll need to familiarise yourself with a range of different troubleshooting solutions.
As with everything these, days there are probably dozens of different reasons why Game Detection in Discord stops working from time to time. It could be a version bug, a minor glitch, a game not being compatible or the option simply disabling itself. Thankfully, there is a range of different things you can do to solve this problem, so follow along as we guide you through them.

How do you fix Discord Game Detection not working?
To begin, the first thing you need to do is check if Game Detection in Discord is still enabled. If it has been a while follow the steps shown below. Discord
- First, open Discord.
- Then, click the Settings cog near your user name in the bottom left area of the screen.
- Now find Activity Status at the bottom of the list on the left under the ACTIVITY SETTINGS section.
- Now make sure the toggle is flipped On and you’re good to go.
Add Game Manually to fix Discord Game Detection not working in Discord.
If your game isn’t being detected correctly still, you can try manually adding it.
- First, open Discord.
- Then, click the Settings cog near your user name in the bottom left area of the screen.
- Now find Activity Status at the bottom of the list on the left under the ACTIVITY SETTINGS section.
- Here click Add it, then find the games .exe file and confirm it. This will let Discord detect whenever you launch this game.

Run Discord as an administrator to allow it to detect Games.
Another really quick and easy way to make sure that Game Detection works in Discord is to launch Discord as Admin. This will make sure there isn’t a privilege conflict within Discord. Although this is unlikely it does work in some instances.
- To run Discord with admin rights, simply find the icon, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
Reinstall Discord to fix Game Detection not working.
If nothing so far has worked, it’s time to uninstall and reinstall a clean copy of Discord on your computer. Once you have done this, you can go back into Settings and enable Game Detection using the steps shown above.
