What’s New in Game Assist (Preview)

Game Assist delivers contextual tips and guides for a growing selection of popular PC games. In the scheme of things, it's not a lot of games but there is a few big titles to keep you interested. While this feature will be handy for some users I do believe it has the potential to take away from the mystery and intrigue of gaming. Random discovery and challenge are a huge part of gaming.

  • Baldur’s Gate 3

  • Diablo IV

  • Dragon Age: The Veilguard

  • Fortnite

  • Hellblade II: Senua’s Saga

  • Indiana Jones and the Great Circle

  • League of Legends

  • Marvel Rivals

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio

  • Minecraft

  • Overwatch 2

  • Roblox

  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R. II: Heart of Chornobyl

  • Valorant

If your favourite game isn’t yet supported, Microsoft plans to continually expand the list of games included in Game Assist. In the meantime, the widget allows you to search for guides, walkthroughs, and tips on external sites while playing any game. A lot of the games that find their way to Game Pass will probably get priority though so keep that in mind.

Enhanced Browser Features in Game Assist

The team has also made improvements to the in-widget browsing experience.

  • Compatibility with select browser extensions like ad blockers. (Super surprising)
  • Streamlined browsing for game guides and tips.
  • Additional optimizations based on community feedback. (We're surprised they listened)

Upcoming Features in Development

Microsoft is actively working on new updates to make Game Assist even more user-friendly. Features in the pipeline include:

  • Keyboard Shortcuts: Simplified navigation for frequently used actions.
  • Settings Menu Enhancements: Access common browser controls directly, such as the ability to pin a tab as an app on the sidebar.
  • Improved Picture-in-Picture (PiP): Enhancements for multitasking while gaming.
  • Context Menus: Expanded right-click functionality for added convenience.

These updates will first arrive in the Canary and Dev channels before making their way to Stable.
