To begin the first thing you need to do is make sure that you are using Google Chrome version 121 or newer. If you aren't sure you can check by going to Settings > About. Now just wait and Chrome will automatically update. Once the Chrome restarts you will have the latest version available and you can start creating custom themes. If you still don't have version 121 you can switch to Google Chrome Canary to get access right now.
To create themes with AI in Google Chrome, do the following:
-
First, open Chrome.
-
Then open a new tab.
-
Click the Customize Chrome button in the bottom right-hand side of the screen.
-
Now click the Change theme option.
-
Here you will see a couple of options so click the Create with AI option.
-
This part is the most important part so, choose a topic for the theme using the “Subject” setting.
-
If you want to you can also choose one of the available styles and mods from the “Add optional details” setting.
-
Select a primary colour for the theme.
-
Finally, click the Create button and see what the tool creates for you.
-
Choose one of the themes created with AI to apply it.
You may have to do this quite a few times to get the results that you are looking for as Generative AI is pretty random and can often be quite hit-and-miss. However, after a few attempts, you should find something that you can personalise your browser with.
