How to Add IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and Metacritic Scores to Netflix.

After a ridiculously long waiting period, Instagram is now finally implementing an official account verification system. The system works in an almost identical way to Twitters blue tick of authenticity and is designed to help people distinguish between real accounts and fake impersonation accounts.

Even if you have been using Instagram for a long time and have amassed a huge following, you won’t automatically qualify for a verified account. Instead, you will have to follow a very, very intricate verification process and jump through a ton of hoops. On top of that Instagram will then decide if you are a person of significance. The entire process from start to finish can take months and there are absolutely no guarantees that you will qualify. You can check out Instagrams official statement on verified accounts below.

“The blue verified badge is an important way for you to know that the account you are interacting with is the authentic presence of a notable public figure, celebrity, global brand or entity. Today we are enabling a new way for accounts that reach large audiences and meet our criteria to request verification through a form within the Instagram app.”

How Do You Request a Verification Tick on Instagram? (Instagram Verified Account)

The most difficult part about getting a verified account on Instagram is the requirement that your account be ‘notable’ which is a tough prerequisite to qualify for. Even if you have half a million followers and think your account is significant and well known, there’s still an extremely high chance you won’t qualify for a verified account.

More importantly, if your account is a collection of reposts of other Internet content, don’t expect to be verified either. Instagram is looking to verify accounts with original content run by unique individuals.

Finally, you will need to make sure your account is public, has a profile photo, detailed bio, at least one post, and doesn’t contain ‘add me’ or other spammy begging requests for follows. It also can’t contain links to other services. So before you go ahead and apply for a verified account on Instagram I would suggest reading there official verified account requirements page properly.

If you think you and your account meet these requirements, the process of applying for Instagram account verification is as follows. First sign into your Instagram account, navigate to your Profile, then open Settings and find and tap on the Request Verification entry.

Next, you will need to provide a ton of relevant information, including your government issued ID, either a National ID card, Passport or driver’s license. On top of that, you may also be required to submit copies of utility bills (electricity, gas, etc). None of this information will be made public on your account, it will just be used by Instagram to prove you are who you say you are. If you’ve ever signed up to a cryptocurrency exchange the process is basically the same.

Important: Anyone who claims to be able to get your Instagram account verified because they "Know" someone at Instagram shouldn't be trusted. The same goes for anyone requesting money to help get your account verified on Instagram. Don't fall for these scams! If the official method doesn't work, there aren't any shortcuts!

Here’s where things get a little complicated! If your Instagram account is created under your alias/stage name or another made up name, getting verified is going to be an even more complicated task so be prepared to jump through a lot of extra verification hoops. For the time being there isn’t much formal information on how this particular situation would unfold.

Once you have supplied all the information Instagram requires, you’ll have to wait for Instagram to accept or reject your application which can take a considerable amount of time. If you are rejected, you’ll have to wait 30 days before you can apply again. If you are trying to find the verification option on an Android device, you will also have to wait a little longer as it is currently only available for iOS devices.
