Final Fantasy XVI is an amazing game with amazing gameplay and a brilliant soundtrack. Pretty much everything, Final Fantasy fans expect. However, as with pretty much all the Final Fantasy games that came before it, it still doesn't have native ultrawide support. So this guide will show you how to add ultrawide support to Final Fantasy XVI as well as a few other extra bonuses.
How to Add Ultrawide Support to Final Fantasy XVI PC
As we mentioned above it is absolutely ridiculous that Final Fantasy XVI doesn't have native ultrawide support on release. It's 2024 this should be standard by now! If you're going to port a game to PC just add it. Anyway, enough ranting below are the steps you need to follow:
- First head on over to Nexus Mods and download the FFXVIFIX Mod
- Once you have the mod file downloaded on your computer Extract the contents of the zip into the the game folder. Depending on where you have it installed the path will change but for Steam users it's under:
steamapps\common\FINAL FANTASY XVI

You can also use this mod on Stam Deck and Linux devices, just run through the following steps once you have the file on your device.
- Open up the game properties in Steam and add "WINEDLLOVERRIDES="dinput8=n,b" %command%" to the launch options.

It always blows my mind that a single modder can add so much support to a game shortly after release. These are simple things that should have been included as standard anyway. Below is a full list of the changes you'll get using this mod. All of which are damn handy!
- Adjust gameplay FOV, camera distance and camera horizontal position.
- JXL screenshot quality option and fixes hitching while taking screenshots.
- Allow the use of motion blur + frame generation.
- Disable depth of field.
- Enable background audio.
- Lock cursor to game window.
- Disable 30FPS cap in cutscenes/photo mode or set your own framerate limit.
- Allow frame generation in cutscenes.
- Disable graphics debugger checks.
- Remove pillarboxing/letterboxing.
- Fixed HUD scaling with configurable HUD size.
- Fixed FOV scaling at <16:9.
Final Fantasy XVI Performance Fixes for PC
If you're having some major stuttering issues because of High CPU and Disk usage you might also want to consider using this mod as well. It seems to help a fair bit on devices with slower CPUs and SSDs. Again though game updates break mods so if something stops working you'll need to check for mod updates.

As with all mods, there's a chance that future game updates will break this mod from time to time so make sure that you are prepared for that. Alternatively, you can keep an eye out for a Flawless Widescreen update that adds support.
