Although battery technology has improved dramatically over the last few decades, batteries are still the weakest point in all modern devices. Especially on iOS devices. For some reason, Apple constantly avoids improving battery life by increasing the size of the internal battery (among other improvements). It reached a point not that long ago when the removal of the percentage icon from the battery indicated was considered a conspiracy so that people couldn’t track battery charge as accurately.
Thankfully, that has now changed and the battery percentage indicator has finally been restored in IOS 16. This is the first time that the % indicator has been back on iOS devices since 2018 and something that people are super pleased about, as trivial as that may sound. As we mentioned earlier the battery percentage indicator inside the battery icon on iPhone isn’t enabled by default, so you will have to enable it manually. But it’s easy enough to do so follow along as we guide you through the process.
How do you get the percentage number back in the battery icon on iPhone? iPhone battery % back in the battery icon iOS 16.

- Next, scroll down and tap Battery.
- On this screen, you will see the Battery Percentage icon option. Tap this to enable it (green is on)
- As soon as you make the change you will see the percentage number jump back into the battery icon.
The battery percentage number will now live inside the battery icon until you decide to change it again.
