How Do You Add a Customize Tab to Windows 10 Desktop Properties?

As this process requires some changes to the Windows system registry it’s best to make a system restore point before continuing. To do this, open the start menu, type Restore, and select Create a Restore Point when it appears on the list. In the new window that appears on the screen, click Create in the bottom right section of the screen, then follow Windows instructions. After you have made a restore point, you can safely start the steps shown below.

How to Automatically Add a Customize Tab to Desktop Properties on Windows 10.

The quickest and easiest way to add a Customize tab to the Desktop Properties menu is to download and use the following reg files.

Once you have the zip file on your computer, simply unzip it to a location you would like to use, then double-click the Add Customize Tab to Desktop Properties.reg file. Next, follow the prompts and accept the two warnings that display. After you have done this, you can find the Desktop icon, right-click and select Properties and view the new customize tab.

If you ever wish to remove the Customize tab from Desktop Properties, you can do the following. Double click the Remove Customize Tab From Desktop Properties.reg file, follow the prompts and accept the two warnings that display. After you have done, this you can find the Desktop icon, right-click and select Properties to check if it is gone.

How to Manually Add a Customize Tab to Desktop Properties on Windows 10.

If you are more of a hands-on person, you can manually make the change by doing the following. Open the Windows Registry Editor by pressing Windows Key + R, then type regedit into the Run tool text box and press Enter. When you have the tool open, navigate to the following location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{B4BFCC3A-DB2C-424C-B029-7FE99A87C641}\PropertyBag

When you get to this location right-click in the center pane, select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value and name the file NoCustomize.

Next, double-click the NoCustomize file and make sure the value is set to 0. Once done, you’ll have a customize tab ready and waiting to use. If at any stage you wish to remove the customize tab from properties, simply return to the same location and change the value from 0 to 1.
