Hitman Absolution Gets Official Details, Arrives in 2012
Hitman Absolution, after yesterday's teaser announcement, has just received a full set of details from IO Interactive, its developer, and Square Enix, its publisher.
Fans of the Hitman franchise have been eagerly awaiting a new game for quite some time now, but the two companies denied working on a new title several times throughout the last couple of years.
Now, Hitman Absolution was officially confirmed yesterday, through the release of a short but sweet teaser trailer and a blurb of information describing the main plot of the new game.
Now, Square Enix has released a few more details about the game, which is going to use IO's proprietary Glacier 2 engine.
The main plot will see Agent 47, the protagonist of the Hitman franchise, once again go through some exciting adventures in which he'll make use of his special talents to take out his enemies.
"Betrayed by those he trusted and hunted by the police, Agent 47 finds himself at the centre of a dark conspiracy and must embark on a personal journey through a corrupt and twisted world, in his search for the truth."
Hitman Absolution is going to deliver a different experience than previous games, according to its developer, and will be a enjoyed both by longtime fans but also by people new to the franchise.
"For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the Hitman fantasy," said IO's game director, Tore Blystad. "This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience to any of the other Hitman games, something our silent assassins will relish as well as those who are new to the Hitman world."
Hitman Absolution is expected in 2012, as Square Enix and IO Interactive want to have plenty of time to polish up the new stealth experience.
More details, including gameplay, is going to be showcased at next month's E3 conference in Los Angeles.
