Square Enix, as the publisher, and Obsidian, as the developer, have announced that they are planning to launch their action adventure title Dungeon Siege III on May 27 in Europe and on May 31 on the North American market.
The game will be playable on the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the PC.
Square Enix has also announced that it will be offering a Limited Edition of Dungeon Siege III, that is available only to those who pre-order it, allowing gamers to get four unique in-game items to use in their adventures in the land of Ehb.
It's not clear whether the same Limited Edition will also be offered to North American gamers.
Dungeon Siege III will take place in the kingdom of Ebh, long plagued by conflict, and will follow four veterans of the now legendary 10th Legion as they are trying to rebuilt their fighting unit and face off against a threat that can destroy the land they live in.
Initial information about Dungeon Siege III show a title which has the trademark dialogue of Obsidian but focuses more on encounters with enemies, dungeon crawling and getting the items and skills that a character needs to face upcoming challenges.
The original creator of the Dungeon Siege concept, Chris Taylor, has been serving as a consultant on the new game, but Obsidian handled all the development duties.
Let's hope that the game is not as buggy on launch as their previous releases, Fallout: New Vegas and Alpha Protocol.
Ned Browning, who is the brand manager at Square Enix, has stated, “With Dungeon Siege III we are bringing the rich world and lore of Ehb to an all new audience. The depth of story and wealth of characters and classes will take players on an incredible journey whether in singleplayer or with up to three friends online.”
