DjVu Viewer is a browser add-on that allows you to view files and documents saved in DjVu format, including those protected by a password - Secure DjVu. Simply put, DjVu is a browser extension.
The DjVu Viewer plug-in is a separate tiny application that requires Internet Explorer 5 or newer to work. After adding this addon/extension to your browser, you will be able to display documents saved in DjVu pattern. This format was developed by scientists from the American company AT&T, who developed a completely new method of compressing colour, scanned documents.
DjVu technology is based on advanced and constantly improving image segmentation technology, which consists in dividing even complex images into separate layers. Then each layer is optimized and compressed. Documents saved in this format are of better quality and lower weight. Although it is a decent format, it doesn't quite compare to today's widely accepted and used Webp image formats used by Google.
